NNPC partners with the Police to fight pipeline vandalism in Nigeria

NNPC and the Nigerian Police have pledged to join forces in combating pipeline vandalism and security threats to oil installations in the country. The statement said the NNPC boss decried the alarming rate of pipeline vandalism in the country and the growing attacks on its operational staff.

It said that the menace posed a serious threat to operations in the petroleum industry and the economy of the nation.

The statement noted that Abubakar declared zero tolerance for pipeline vandalism and pledged to deal with any officer who failed to perform

N17M SCAM: EFCC arraigns Kaduna Deputy Speaker tomorrow

EFCC again! on Sunday said it would arraign the Deputy Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mato Dogara, on Monday over an alleged N17 million scam. This was contained in a statement by EFCC spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, on Sunday in Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

How a passenger was arrested with $767,500 at Lagos airport

The passenger's names are Yusuf Taofeeq Olanrewaju with passport number A03758685, arrested while trying to board an Emirates flight number EK782 to Hong Kong via Dubai.

The PRO said: “ Upon investigation, the passenger , Yusuf Taofeeq Olarewaju was noted as a frequent traveller with currency as follows: on April 27, 2012, $182,000 , which he took to Hong Kong.

“On May, 26, 2012, he traveled with $228000 to Hong Kong.

“On July, 21, 2012, he traveled with $395000 to Hong Kong.

“On September 15, 2012, he traveled with $525000 to Hong Kong.

“On November 3, 2012, he traveled with $10000 to China. “And this present case , January, 10, 2013, when he traveled with $767500 to Hong Kong.”

Fan passes out trying to touch Psquare in Ghana

The last time I heard the gist of someone passing out during performance was when Jackson was alive  now am hearing it again. this time its P square, at their recent outing in Accra, Ghana, P-square wowed their audience with an inspiring performance, so much that the crowd surged forward in a bid to touch the Twins

But the not-so-lucky females in the boisterous crowd passed out and had to be resuscitated P-Square abruptly halt their performance in order for the ladies to be revived by security and medical personnel.

2 killed, 8 injured as petrol tanker explodes in Rivers

A fully laden petrol tanker, yesterday , fell, spilled its content and burst into flames along Mbiama junction, by Ahoada bypass in Rivers State, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said.
The tanker, a Mack truck with registration  no XS 942 KJA , crashed at about 8:15 a.m., killing two persons-a male and a female. Eight people were also hurt in the fire that emanated from the crash.

Property damaged as a result of the accident include eleven vehicles, four motorcycles, thirteen shops, twenty three makeshift houses, as well as two Churches and a Mosque.

Osun Orders Owners Of Arrested 5 Goats To Pay N10,000 or lose their animals.

Osun state Waste Management Agency (OWMA), on Friday, ordered owners of the five goats arrested in Dele-Yesa area of Osogbo, the state capital on Tuesday to pay the sum of N10,000 each as fine into the coffers of the state government or forfeit the animals

The Director of Environmental Management and Sanitation Agency (OWMA), Mr Henry Ogunbanwo said any of the owners of the goats who failed to pay the fine within seven days would lose their animals.

Ogun distributes food items to flood victims

The items are to mitigate effects of the flood, the commissioner stated.

The Ogun State Government has begun the distribution of food items received from the Federal Government to flood victims across 20 Local Governments of the State.

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Ronke Sokefun, who stated this in Abeokuta while speaking on the activities of her ministry, disclosed that the State had late last year taken delivery of 660 metric tons of maize, 60 metric tons of garri and 180 metric tons of sorghum as its portion of relieve food items released by the Federal Government to States across the Federation.

EFCC Didn’t Arrest Me - Chukwuma Soludo

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on Friday, disclosed that he was not arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), contrary to reports in some national dailies.

The former apex bank boss, however, said that he was only invited by the EFCC to make clarifications on some issues in a matter under investigation. “He voluntarily went from his home to EFCC office on Thursday. He was neither arrested nor escorted by any operative of the Commission.”

15-Year-Old Teen Married Off To 70-Year-Old Man By Parents At N3m

When I hear people say that money is the root of all evil I doubt it so much, but with the happenings recently am beginning to have a re-think about my opinion.

A 70-year-old man and a 15-year old girl were married in Saudi Arabia after the girl’s parents reportedly sold her to the man for $20,000 (N3.1m).

According to CNN, the marriage was made public after the man filed a complaint that his wife had been returned to her parents who are Yemeni and Saudi, and that he had been swindled. Authorities believe the young girl may have gotten into a physical altercation with her elderly husband, which prompted her return home.

Fire Guts New Market In Oyo, Goods Worth Millions Lost

Barely twenty-four hours after a section of the royal Palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Olayiwola Adeyemi III was razed by fire, another major fire incident occurred at the New Gbagi Market in Ibadan in the early hours of Thursday destroying goods and property worth millions of naira.

Thursday’s fire disaster at the market, popularly called Bola Ige International Market, Ibadan, was also coming barely few days after such sad incident at the Ifeleye market, also in Ibadan which was gutted on Monday.

TMZ Report: Britney Spears to Quit 'The X Factor'

TMZ reported late Wednesday night that the pop star, who served as a judge on the most recent season of the Fox singing competition, has quit the show to focus on her music. An unnamed source tells the website, "Britney loves Simon, she likes Demi Lovato, but her thing is music."

Spears is currently in the studio recording her eighth album with some help from Will.i.am and all-star producer Hit-Boy. TMZ reports that the singer wants to head out on tour after she completes the album, and judging another season of The X Factor would obviously conflict with that.
