The Imo state police command has arrested a 64 year-old man, Mr Chimezie Osigweh on whose property a 10-year old embalmed corpse was found.

Mr Osigweh, a retired principal and a strong devotee of the Guru Maharaji Sect who was alleged to have mysteriously killed his mother 10 years ago and since 2003, kept the embalmed corpse of his mother in a large cupboard inside a shrine of a private room in a circumstance depicting ritual practice.

70 Million Nigerians Are Poor, Jigawa Is The Poorest State - World Bank

 The World Bank has disclosed that about70 million Nigerian adults are poor, while Jigawa is the poorest state in the country.

World Bank Lead Economist, Mr John Litwack, speaking at the media launch of the Nigeria Economic Report (NER) on Monday in Abuja, stated that poverty rates remain high particularly in rural area.

Mr Litwack noted in the report that although poverty rate declined slightly between 2004 and 2010, it did not however reflect on the generality of Nigerians.

Lagos state approves uniforms, ID cards for danfo drivers & conductors

Hehe Oga Fashiola is not smilling at all, the new ish now is that public transportation vehicle drivers and their conductors will soon be required to wear uniforms and show identity tags. The announcement was made by the commissioner for transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa

“The transport unions have agreed on the type of uniform and the badges they will give to the commercial bus drivers and their conductors. The identities of the owners (owners’ cards) of the commercial buses will also be aboard these buses.Again, the commercial bus drivers must be re-certified by attending the drivers’ institute, where they will undergo comprehensive tests – including vision and driving tests.”

Story of Onyinyechi Orakwuelu, Girl Who Stabbed & Killed Boy Who Tried to Rape Her

MAY 5, 2013 was Onyinyechi Orakwuelum’s 18th birthday.The day she became an adult and the day she allegedly stabbed to death 19-years-old Akinwale Ayobami, who she said wanted to rape her.

Onyinye, who is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, pending investigation, narrated her story to Tribune and she said:

I am from Nkwele Ogidi in Anambra. I finished from Saint Gabriel Commercial Secondary School, Mokola, Ibadan, in 2011.

Lagos state government bans ‘keke napeps’ from major roads

Lagos State government said it has banned Tri-cycles popularly called Keke Napep from plying major roads in the state, saying their operations constitute nuisance on state roads.

The Commissioner for transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa who disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing said the use of commercial motorcycles and Tri-cycles were not part of the state transportation model.

 He said that the state government had held several meetings with the unions on the development, adding “they have agreed to stay away from these roads.”

It was end of Journey for a man yesterday as he was crushed to death by a mast which fell off a 2storey building.

The man, a 52-year old roadside trader identified as Adeolu Adeleke had reportedly gone to protect his wares from the heavy rain and winds but was crushed by the mast as he made his way back to his shade.

Someone who witnessed the incident and a very close friend of the deceased said Adeleke, also known as Baba Ibeji, was warned not to enter the rain because of the strong wind but he refused. “I told him to forget about the goods since the wind was blowing strongly, but he said he would hurry down there quickly not knowing that he will not return,” he said.

House Of Reps Summons JAMB Due To Mass Failure Of Students

The House of Representatives has summoned the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Dibu Ojerinde, over the  mass failure of candidates in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

An informed source told the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, on Thursday, that Professor Ojerinde was expected to appear before the House Committee on Education today, to explain the rationale behind the mass failure and the way forward.

This happened 3 Days ago but I have been unable to report because we had light and internet issues in school, there was no light for a week and that is why my blog has been scanty this past week, but to God be the Glory it was restored yesterday.

This may sound funny to you, but in UNN we have classes at stadium. I was at stadium 3 days ago to receive a lecture. Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike and UNIZIK were playing a football match, at first I thought the lecture wasn't going to hold but the lecturer didn't mind, he went on with his lecture, the lecture was as good as no lecture though, The Mr. was busy talking and teaching while people where making noise hailing and cheering the footballers. lol how sad?
