87 Fake Corps Members Arrested at an Illegal Orientation Camp in Lafia, Nasarawa State

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) on Wednesday paraded 87 fake corps members that were arrested at a fake orientation camp in Lafia,Nasarawa State.

 The part-time graduates, some of whom were in the khaki uniform of the National Youth Corps Scheme were paraded at the NSCDC Headquarters,  Abuja.
 The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Okeh explained that the fake corps members were nabbed following intelligence surveillance of the place.
 Okeh told newsmen that investigation has commenced to arrest some of the fake corps members that escaped, adding that further investigations would fish out the syndicate behind the fake NYSC camp.
 The Deputy Commandant, Nasarawa State NSCDC command, Walter Akubiro, who led the operation to the camp, explained that the arrest of the suspects was made possible by an NSCDC operative who applied to the coordinator of the camp as a military instructor.
 He stated that the suspects who paid between N80,000-N150, 000 to the fake NYSC operators, had earlier lodged at Tip top hotel, Nyanya, Nasarawa State  before they were moved into a camp deep in the bush.
 Akubiro said, “The coordinators convinced their victims that they would take them to the NYSC orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja and collected money from these innocent Nigerians.”
