CNN Suspends Roland Martin Over David Beckham’s H&M Advert Brouhaha

One of CNN’s finest political commentators, Roland Martin, has been suspended by the news organization over his tweet on David Beckham’sH&M advert aired during the Sunday’s Super Bowl which some people termed homophobic.
Roland Martin tweeted “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!”
He followed that message with another similar one, saying “Ain’t no real bruhs going to H&M to buy some damn David Beckham underwear!”
Since then, there have been a lot of backlashes from LGBT community over the tweet, and Martin issued an apology saying people that were interpreting his Tweets as homophobic did not understand that he meant it as a light-hearted joke.

‘To those who construed my comment as being anti-gay or homophobic or advancing violence, I’m truly sorry. I can certainly understand how someone could come to a different conclusion than the one I meant,’ he wrote on his website.
Gay rights advocacy group GLAAD accused him of encouraging violence against homosexuals, and demanded action be taken in response.
CNN released a statement saying that Martin would be suspended until an unspecified date.
“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive, language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated.
We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”
