Robbers bomb banks in Ogun

Barely a week after the Ogun State Government read a riot act to armed robbers to desist from operating in its territories and environs, the bandits on Thursday exhibited their brutality with the bombing of five banks in Sagamu town of the state.
NEXT reports further that the robbers kick-started their operations at about 12.00pm which was heralded with sporadic gunshots to scare away people, a development which paved way for them to gain access into the banks after using dynamites.
The affected banks include Guarantee Trust Bank, Diamond Bank, Skye Bank, Intercontinental Bank and Zenith Bank, just as further findings revealed that the bandits made away with huge cash before escaping from the scene.

A few people were said to have been seriously injured during the raid, but were as at the time of this report said to have been taken to hospital for urgent medical attention. The robbers were said to be ten in number.

Our correspondent further reliably gathered that the gang operating in a white Hilux truck, also shot the driver of members of the Vigilante Group, while trying to stop them from carrying out the operation.
The gang allegedly shot dead an Hausa man, a motorcyclist and another man who were eating at a food canteen, owned by one woman called Mama water in the area.
Similarly, a group leader in the town, identified as Musbau Araokanmi and another man simply identified as Letua were badly shot and have been hospitalized
The gang was said to have escaped through Iperu-Ago-Iwoye road, passing through Olabisi Onabanjo University {OOU} mini campus road and caused a serious panic, as both staffers and students of the institution ran for safety.
It would also be recalled that a gang of armed robbers two weeks ago stormed some banks in the premises of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye in Ijebu North local Government, robbed and killed three people.
Meanwhile, when contacted on phone, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said, the authorities of the police were on their way to access the level of the crime, with a promise to get back to newsmen
