President Jonathan Was Never Scheduled To Visit Chibok – Abati

The Presidency yesterday denied any plan for President Goodluck Jonathan to visit Chibok, Borno State yesterday.

Over 200 secondary school girls were abducted by terrorist in Chibok over a month ago.

According to Twitter account of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati on Friday, the was not scheduled to visit Chibok as widely reported yesterday.

Jay-Z and Solange Knowles Reconcile Via Predictably Bland Press Release

All is well again in Beyoncéland as Jay-Z and Solange Knowles do the superstar version of kissing and making up by issuing the most bland, sterile public statement a PR consultant could possibly craft. At least they acknowledge they did have an elevator fight. Here's the statement:

"As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it," reads a joint statement issued to the Associated Press Thursday. "Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."

'Fantastic Beasts,' J.K. Rowling's Upcoming Potter-Universe Movie Gets a Release Date

Two-and-a-half years isn't so long to wait, right? That's how long it'll be until J.K. Rowling's new Harry Potter-universe movie, Fantastic Beasts, will hit theaters. The release is now officially scheduled for November 18, 2016, just two days after the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

As we've detailed before, Fantastic Beasts will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist whose most famous book, Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, was required reading for Harry, Ron, and Hermione at Hogwarts. The movie, which will likely be the first of three, will be set in the late '20s or early '30s, some 70s years before the events of the first Potter book.

Senate President, David Mark Insists FGN Should NOT Negotiate with Boko Haram Under Any Circumstances

Senate opposes negotiation with Boko Haram; Senate President, David Mark, on Tuesday insisted that the Federal Government would not negotiate with the Boko Haram insurgents for release of the over 200 school girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State on April 14.

The leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau, had in a video message released on Monday and showing the abducted girls for the first time since their abduction, vowed that the girls would only be released if government agrees to swap them for detained members of the group in various cells across the country.
Shekau had said: “These are the girls abducted by our fighters and whose release the Nigerian government has been calling for. We won’t release them to you and you can’t take them away from us no matter how you try.

McCain: Send U.S. troops to rescue kidnapped girls in Nigeria

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., wants to see more than hashtag messages voicing displeasure over the abduction of nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls by the terrorist group Boko Haram. He wants to see U.S. troops go into Nigera and rescue the girls, even if it means doing so without permission from the Nigerian government.

‘If they knew where they were, I certainly would send in U.S. troops to rescue them, in a New York minute I would, without the permission of the host country,’ McCain said Tuesday. Referring to Nigeria’s president, McCain added: ‘I wouldn’t be waiting for some kind of permission from some guy named Goodluck Jonathan.’

US Flying 'Manned' Missions, Analyses Video Released by Boko Haram to Find Missing Schoolgirls

According to a new report on AFP, the U.S has deployed manned surveillance aircraft over Nigeria in a bid to find the schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram, while experts are analyzing the video of the teenagers released by the militants, cos they are confident it contains clues that will tell them when and where it was shot.

Washington has sent military, law-enforcement and development experts to Nigeria to help search for the 200-odd missing girls and so far, AFP reports that a senior US administration official, asking not to be named, said:

Lion Escapes From Nekede Zoo, Owerri

There are reports that a lion escaped from the Nekede Zoo in Owerri, the Imo State capital last night. The State's local radio station Orient FM made the broadcast. It is said the police command and the management of the zoo are doing their best to track down the lion as the public is also advised to be on the lookout and be safety conscious. A resident says she took her child to school only to be told no school cos of the lion's cage break.

BREAKING NEWS; Photos & Video From Boko Haram Shows Kidnapped Girls

According to a CNN breaking news report, a new video purportedly showing at least 100 of the abducted Chibok girls has been obtained by AFP. The Boko Haram 27-minute video shows the girls alive and together, wearing Islamic Hijab headdress and reciting portions of the Quran. Those who said they have seen the video, including CNN reporters, say it seems the girls were speaking under duress. In the video, Boko Haram leader Shekau said he’s willing to exchange the girls for its members in prison. The timeline of when the video was taken is unknown.

Nigerian Govt Has Pictures and Identities Of Abducted Chibok Girls; I Dare The Govt To Disown My List

When he released the list of abducted Chibok girls last week, Evangelist Matthew Owojaiye, caused more than a stir. The Kaduna-based founder of Food for the Total Man Ministry spoke with newsmen on why he released the list and the insurgency challenges in the north. Sunday Oguntola was there. Excerpts:

Last Sunday, you jolted the nation by releasing names of some of the abducted girls. Let’s start by asking you why?

Actually some people are even saying nobody was abducted, as if the story was cooked up. Can you imagine that? If your daughter was abducted and there is no trace three weeks after, how will you feel? Then someone comes to say there was no abduction. And that it was only from one local government that the girls on the list came from, just Chibok local government. That is where the school is located. Other people from other places sent their children to the school. We couldn’t get their names because we had no way to.

Is that why you had only 180 names of the kidnapped girls on the list?

Professor Wole Soyinka in an interview with CNN’s Amanpour said that the search for the over 200 abducted Chibok girls is now ‘beyond the capacity’ of the Nigerian government. Still on the same interview aired yesterday, the Nobel Laurette said, “This is a government which is not only in denial mentally, but in denial about certain obvious steps to take.” He went further to state that ““It’s one of those rather child-like situations that if you shut your eyes, if you don’t exhibit the tactile evidence of the missing humanity here, that somehow the problem will go away.” The professor also said that Nigeria’s president Jonathan and his advisers are in denial about the issue.

Boko Haram, others received $3m from bin Laden – Report

The violent sect, Boko Haram and other groups in northern Nigeria received $3m from Osama bin Laden in 2002, according to a report by some United States intelligence analysts.

Bin Laden was said to have dispatched an aide to Nigeria to hand out the seed money in naira to a wide array of Salafist political organisations that shared al Qaeda’s goal of imposing Islamic rule.

According to  a report in a United States-based newspaper, The Daily Beast, the Al-Qaeda founder helped provide Boko Haram’s seed money.

Boko Haram was founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002. Yusuf was killed in police custody in 2009.

US Marines locate abducted girls in Sambisa forest - Vanguard

Looks like the reports that the girls have been sold were wrong and probably a ploy to take the attention away from Borno.
According to VANGUARD, Sources in Abuja said that members of the United States Marines who are already in Maiduguri  located the girls inside the forest, using some Satellite equipment which combed the forest, located an assembly of the young girls and sent the images back to the Marines on ground in Maiduguri.
