OJB Jezreel Sues Blogger For N100m Over Fake Story

The OJB Jezreel fundraising committee has sued an online news website, Aproko247 for N100million over a story published on its platform alleging that some members of the committee ripped the ailing singer off through donations made by kind-hearted Nigerians to save OJB Jezreel.
The website posted the story on Monday, while the committee members called a press conference on Tuesday evening at OJB Jezreel's residence in Surulere, Lagos, where they made the announcement of the N100million lawsuit against the website.
18 Persons Reported Dead In A Multiple Accident Along Benin-Lagos Road

Eighteen persons on Thursday died in a multiple road accident that occurred along the Benin-Lagos bye-pass. Vehicles involved in the accident included a truck carrying drinks, a tipper lorry and a fully loaded eighteen seater bus. Eyewitnesses said the truck veered off the road and had a head-on collision with the tipper before the bus hit the tipper from behind.
The eyewitness said three persons in the tipper were killed and 15 in the bus were killed while three other sustained injuries. Men of Operation Thunderstorm were said to have been involved in the rescue operation.
Public Relation Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps, John Aniedi who confirmed the accident said six persons were confirmed dead at the point of rescue. He said his men were yet to fully brief him and that the injured were taken to Our Clinic at Oregbeni quarters, Ikpoba Hill.

Jungle Justice again! 3 okada men who are suspected to be arm robbers that have been terrorizing people in Ikotun area of Lagos were caught and set ablaze by an angry mob. Their cup was almost full till they went for an operation on Wednesday evening about 7pm to top it in a failed operation to rob a woman, a wholesales recharge cards seller, at Governor’s Road, Ikotun at about, one of the arm robbers pointed a gun at the woman and asked for her bag containing recharge cards and money however the woman was not quick to give out her revenue for the day and her cards, the stupid arm robber stayed and stupidly engaged himself in argument with the woman hence called the attention people and some vigilante members.
According to the eyewitness the mob had gathered the suspects together and burnt them beyond recognition along with their motorcycle, before the police could intervene. Sources fromPolice Division station said no arrest was made in connection to the incident.

32,552 persons live with HIV/AIDS in Niger –Agency
Niger State Agency for Control of AIDS (NISACA) Director- General, Mr. Adams Baba Umar, has said that the state has no fewer than 32, 552 persons living with HIV/AIDS virus.
Umar said in Minna that of the figure, 20, 598 were placed on care and support treatment and 17, 944 on antiretroviral treatment.
He said the prevalent rate of the disease stood at 6.2 per cent in 2007, but reduced to four per cent now due to concerted effort by the state government.
Umar said in 2007, 58 people accepted to test their HIV/AIDS status of which 13 tested positive.
The director-general, however, said the state has 25 health facilities that administer comprehensive treatment to people living with HIV/AIDS as well as 128 Primary Healthcare Facilities that give Prevention of Mother to Child Treatment (PMTCT) across the state.

China and Nigeria Sign $1.1 Billion Deal

China has agreed to give Nigeria a $1.1bn (£700m) low-interest loan to build much-needed infrastructure. The deal was struck during Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday. The money would help build roads, airport terminals in four cities, and a light-rail line for Nigeria's capital.

IN the beginning: THE precarious security situation in the country assumed a frightening dimension on March 2, 2013, when a serving Commissioner of Police, Chinwike Asadu was gruesomely killed by gun men in Enugu. The Police boss who was in-charge of Kwara State was in the city en route to Port Harcourt for the annual police games when he was brutally shot to death in front of his private residence.
Immediately after his death, the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar gave marching order that his killers must be fished out, dead or alive. Stella Damasus explains Why They Changed Their Family Name From Ojukwu To Damasus
“I'm from Delta State. I was born into a Christian family of five girls and a boy. I lost my brother in 1991 to asthma. I lived with my parents until I came to Lagos after my secondary school. I was living with my sister, got into music and that was when I went to Klink Studio, joined a band and started performing live. My daddy is a fantastic man. He is Chief SKC Damasus. He was a banker all his life. During the war he was a soldier and after the war he became a banker. My mum is a banker as well. I was brought up in a home of bankers. Everything was by the book. You go to school, come back, study, receive guests and the likes. Again, because I had older sisters things were easier. Growing up was fun.
My family name was changed from Ojukwu to Damasus during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war because we were being mistaken to be related to a warlord. I was told that my family name used to be Ojukwu but during the civil war there was confusion because a lot of my family members were mistaken to be related to one war lord. They were burning a lot of houses in my village so my father and his brother decided to adopt my grandfather's first name. It was a Greek name which was Damasus, my grandfather's name was Damasus Ojukwu. So I was born into Damasus not Ojukwu and the only thing I know about the civil war are the stories my parents told me.”
