20 wedding guests feared dead in Ogun auto crash
An auto crash occurred early Saturday, along Kobape-Abeokuta dual carriage road in Ogun State, with about 20 people feared dead.
The accident occurred at about 7.30 a.m., when a truck with a Lagos registration number, JJJ 489XB, swerved from its lane and rammed into a Toyota Hiace passenger bus travelling in the opposite direction.

The 20 occupants of the bus, all feared dead, were members of the African Church Solution Camp, Ewang Estate, Abeokuta. They were on their way to attend a wedding and left in a convoy before the accident occurred.
Their bus, marked Lukdos Transport, had left its take-off point and was travelling past Ototo village, located between a radio station, Paramount F.M, and a police computer college, when the truck driver lost control and triggering the accident.
Many of the victims were reported to have died on the spot following the impact of the collision, while others died in hospital. A two-year old girl, said to be among the victims, suffered head injuries and was still receiving treatment at the state hospital as at the time of this report.
When PREMIUM TIMES correspondent visited the scene, security officials, ambulance services, and road safety officials were seen evacuating the victims’ corpse and trying to maintain calm.
The Coordinator of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency of Ogun State, Sola Bamidele, who spoke with PREMIUM TIMES at the scene, said the accident was caused by the truck driver.
He said the bus took off from Abeokuta less than 30minutes before the crash occurred, adding that authorities were still trying to get in touch with the transport company for the manifest of the bus.
A medical doctor attached to the Ogun State Ambulances Services also confirmed that while some victims died on the spot, others did while being rushed to hospital.
Mr. Adelakun added that the remains of the victims were deposited at the state hospital, Ijaiye, and some at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
At the African Church Solution Camp, sadness was written on the faces of worshippers as they discussed the accident.
