Here is a list of celebs who missed out on an Idol gig
"SO excited to be joining the team on ‪@AmericanIdol!!!!!! -KU ‪#idoljudges," Urban tweeted Sunday morning.

Mariah Carey confirmed her acceptance of the Idol gig by calling into Fox's TCA presentation in July. "I am so excited to be joining Idol. I wish I could have been there myself to tell you," she told reporters over speakerphone. "It all kind of just happened real quickly. I can't wait to get started in a couple months. I will see you in January!"

Original Idol judge Randy Jackson was reportedly going to be dropped from the show as a judge, but then it was Enrique Iglesias who was dropped in favor of bringing back Jackson. Former Idol judge Simon Cowell tweeted that Randy was the "right decision."
Rumors of Urban joining Idol reached a fever-pitch when he announced he was quitting his judging spot on the Australian edition of The Voice. "I've been so fortunate to have been a part of The Voice. And as much as I'd love to do it again, it's clear that the recording and promoting of a new album, a tour and other commitments will keep me from being a part of the second season," the country crooner said in a statement.
Guess who else is returning to Idol next year? Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe!
Finally, Minaj was always speculated to be a sure thing while the rumor mill churned, however she told us recently at the MTV Video Music Awards that she still hadn't made up her mind about joining the Fox reality series. Looks like her mind is made up now!

While the "Starships" rapper has yet to officially comment on the news, Minaj retweeted Ryan Seacrest's photo of the new judges posing with Jackson and a group of other people Sunday morning.
