Popular Fuji Musician, Sunny T Adesokan Is Dead

Its another tragic day in the Nigeria Music industry as one of the popular Fuji musicians in Lagos, Sunny T Adesokan has died.
Sources close to the Mushin-bred musician disclosed to yemojanews.com that he died early this morning, July 1, 2012.

The versatile performer, who became widely known in the 90s as ‘omo nna to’n ko fuji (the Igbo man who plays Fuji – a predominantly yoruba music) was signed to Sarolaj Music before his sudden death.

We learnt Sunny T performed last at a public function in Epe, Lagos State last Friday, June 29, 2012.

Sarolaj owner, Alhaji Tunji Sarumi, who also owns Eru Owa records, one of Nigeria’s most successful and enduring fuji label, did not reply our text messages as at the time of filing this report, but close associates to the label owner disclosed that the musician was quite agile till last night.

We were told ‘ he woke up around 4:30am today, he complained of cold, and asked to have some warm water to bathe with.’

‘He went into the bathroom, but came out without having his bath. The he sat on the bed and started breathing hard before he later gave up the ghost’.

Another source revealed to us that Sunny T was rushed to the General hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, where doctors attended to him, before he passed on.

We are yet to get details of his burial arrangement as at press time. He is survived by his wife and kids. His last album ‘Capable’, was released in August 2011.
