14 burnt to death in Kaduna-Abuja highway crash

Not fewer than 14 persons have lost their dear lives yesterday in an early hour fatal accident that occurred along the Kaduna-Abuja highway, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Kaduna has confirmed.

According to the Public Enlightenment Officer of the FRSC in the state...
, Mr Olusogo Ogungbe, the incident involved a Toyota Hiace vehicle marked Zamfara XA 545 TMA at kilometre 32 in Kakau on the highway.
He further noted that the said the vehicle was conveying 18 persons out of whom 14, including nine males and five females were burnt to death while three other males and one female passengers sustained major injuries and were currently receiving treatment at St. Gerald’s Hospital in Kaduna.
Ogungbe who attributed the incident to reckless driving said the vehicle veered off the road into the bush before it burst into flames
An eyewitness identified as Salisu Ibrahim said he saw six bodies burnt beyond recognition. Two others were lying at the scene of the incident.
He said the vehicle was still on fire with other helpless victims in the vehicle before the FRSC rescue team came to the scene.
