Obi grants amnesty to 9 prisoners

  NINE presons serving prison sentences in various prisons have been granted amnesty by the governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi to mark the 51st Independence anniversary of Nigeria.

A memo reference AG/AN/S.198/VI/22 signed by the Anambra State Attorney –General and chairman of the State’s Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuma, said the lucky persons were serving jail terms in Oji River Prisons in Enugu State, Onitsha Prison, Awka Prison and Aguata Prison.

Those granted amnesty in Oji River Prisons are Obinna Oluchukwu and Amobi Chukwuedozie, while those from Onitsha Prisons are Onuora Okechukwu and Obinna Azi. Others were Emeka Ezeokeke and Junior Okoro from Awka Prisons,while John Emmanuel, Emeka Nwagbom and Eugene Kum were released fromAguata Prisons.
