Our Children Will Not Remember Generator In Their Lives Again -- President Jonathan

Looking at the short and medium-term programmes mapped out for the power sector in the country, President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday said Nigerian children soon would no longer depend on generators for electricity supply.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of the N162.9bn Zungeru Hydro Power Dam in Niger State, the President said many of the programmes mapped out for the power sector had been attained and surpassed, and that the issue of generators would soon be a thing of the past.

He said, “Today, many short and medium programmes have been attained and surpassed. The long term programmes of the power project are underway. www.uwillcgossip.com

“Our children must not live in a country where they get individual generators to generate light for them. This government is ensuring the regulation of the power sector to ensure power for all.”

The President stated that the problem of funding and other obstacles confronting the power sector had been addressed adequately by his administration, adding that the commencement of the hydro power dam would encourage agricultural activities in the state and turn the economy around.

Kwara gov escapes attack as protests continue

Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Tuesday narrowly escaped being attacked by angry mob as protests continued in Ilorin, the state capital.

The protesters also prevented the governor from inaugurating some projects in commemoration of his administration’s two years in office.

The protest started on Monday following the shooting of a Kwara State Polytechnic student by a bullion van police escort.

Students of the College of Education, Kwara State Polytechnic, along with their counterparts from other tertiary institutions in the area today continued their protest in Ilorin, the state capital, over yesterday’s shooting of one of their colleagues by a policeman.

Ahmed Dayo, who is said to be receiving treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, was shot by a reckless policeman deployed to a bullion van being used by a commercial bank. He was said to have shot the student, who was in a taxi, while trying to shoot out the cab’s tires to clear the way for his van.

6 people killed as Lagos youths clash during match in Ilaje

6 people have been killed while some  sustained injuries after youths clashed during a football match at the Ajah area of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos State.

According to police report, the clash was between, the Olumegbon boys, Ajah boys and Ilaje boys. when they arrived the scene, the whole area was filled with blood as well as broken glass and sticks after the fracas.

Eminem Sues Facebook Over Unauthorised Song Usage

Eminem's song publishing company is suing Facebook and an ad agency. They have filed a federal lawsuit in Detroit, claiming that the social networking giant used one of his songs without permission.

According to Billboard. The company alleges that Eminem's 2000 song 'Under the Influence' was used in a 30-second Facebook advert last month without copyright clearance, reports

New Movie: "IFUNANYA" Starring Chika Ike, Bryan Okwara & Others

On the 19th May 2013, in Lagos, the movie ‘Ifunanya‘ was launched at the exclusive Cafe Vanessa, in Victoria Island, Lagos. The movie which was produced by Serah Donald and Theresa Dickson, a fast rising actress, also starred Chika Ike, Ebele Okaro, Paul Sambo, Bryan Okwara, Theresa Dickson and many others. It was directed by Serah Donald.
