Helicopter Crashes In Bayelsa State

Tragedy has struck again, this time in Bayelsa state where a helicopter belonging to the Nigerian Navy is reported to have crashed.

Among other passengers on board the chopper who have been confirmed dead are the governor of Kaduna state, Patrick Yakowa, and the former National Security Adviser; Andrew Azazi, whose last public appearance before today was at the Christopher Kolade annual lecture in Lagos on Thursday.

A 16-year-old boy, Terseer Iorparegh, was yesterday caught stuck in a high tension cable while attempting to vandalize the PHCN cable along Naka road in Makurdi.

I was surfing the web today when I came across the Google Zeitegist 2012 summaries for Nigeria. It was quite interesting to look at the most searched for terms on Google by Nigerians. I wasn't surprised to see Davido, or Chelsea emerging as top trending artists and top trending football teams respectively but I must confess I was surprised with Mercy Johnson emerging as top trending Nollywood artist. Dbanj and Tnto Dikeh both coming up as third in their respective areas seems quite amusing as well, seems they got what they want creating all those controversies. EFCC arrests Jigawa governor’s son with $50,000 at the Kano International Airport

Mr Aminu, son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State was arrested at the Kano International Airport by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Kano International Airport

Undisclosed sum of $40,000 was found on the Governor’s son as he prepared to board an Egypt bound flight. Sources close to the Commission said that Mr. Lamido was flagged after he declared $10,000 in his possession to agents of the Nigerian customs at the airport. Further checks by the agents revealed that he had an additional $40,000 which he did not declare.
