Fresh bomb explosion kills 4 in Maiduguri

                                          
 An explosion, Tuesday, rocked London Ciki ward of Maiduguri Metropolis on leaving four persons dead including a suspected member of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram and a 9-year old child.

Eleven others were said to be seriously injured while a residential house of an Islamic scholar, the Imam of Maikatanga mosque, Mallam Goni Modu was burnt down.

Enraged Father, Dennis Akpati came home and allegedly saw his daughter being raped by Seun Ogunbanwo – a graduate of the Lagos State University;  and understandably angry, sliced off Seun’s penis with a machete.

He is due to be charged to court for assault.

Ogunbanwo, a graduate of Business Administration who recently finished  his NYSC was allegedly caught having sex with Akpati’s daughter inside her father’s flat at 52, Tijani Alabi Street, Ijegun, on the outskirts of Lagos.

Sunday Bada, Ex-Nigerian Olympian, Dies At 41

            

Sunday Bada, Former Olympic Silver medalist and Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) technical director, has passed away. The former police officer and sprinter slumped and died at the National stadium yesterday evening, Monday Dec 12th, 2011. He was only 41 years old.


Bada was a member of Nigeria’s 4 x 400m mens team that won silver at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.


May his soul rest in peace (amen).

Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins  hinted last month  that he is ready to set up his own foundation in memory of his late brother  in december after he  paid a visit to orictoritak motherless babies home in Kazan Russia where he gave out gifts to orphans and motherless babies 

     Obafemi Martins while speaking with Complete Sport Magazine  revealed  that about N500 million will be invested in his charity foundation to be launched on the 22nd of December in Lagos.

    We will launch the  Foundation soon and most of my colleagues in Russia, Italy and England have all confirmed to attend,"Martins said

A 17- year- old girl was allegedly murdered by her father, Naresh, when she refused to go with a 55- year- old groom chosen by him in Kasan village of Haryana’s Kaithal district.

What can be more horrifying news when a father becomes the killer of his own teenage girl for rejecting a 55-year-old husband. The shocking and pathetic incident occurred at Kasaan village in Kaithal in Haryana.

The 17-year-old girl was forcefully married to a person who was 38 years older than the deceased. Villagers informed that the girl was forced to marry a father-like aged person. The girl had refused to stay with her husband, sources said.

Lagos deputy gov makes Guinness World Record

                                          


LAGOS State deputy overnor, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has said the investment of the state government in the education sector is already achieving the  desired results, adding that the literacy level in the state is increasing.

She stated this in her office at the weekend, while receiving the Guinness World Record certificate for the largest assembly of children reading with an adult, set on September 8, 2011, when she read with 4,222 pupils to set the new record previously held by the United Kingdom.

Okada operations banned beyond 7pm in Jos

                                  

The Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday banned commercial motorcycles, known as `Okada', from operating in Jos beyond 7p. m, following the bomb blasts that occurred in some parts of the city on Saturday night.

The STF, the team in-charge of keeping peace on the Plateau, announced the ban in a press release, signed by DSP Ikemefuna Okafor, for the media officer of the task force.

A triple bomb blast rocked three television viewing centres within the Jos North Local Government Council on Saturday night.
