We learnt late yesterday that there’s been a fatal road accident along Auchi Okene Abuja road. The bus involved in the accident belongs to Big Joe Transport and unfortunately no one survived.

The Accident occured yesterday.

Boko Haram Kills UNN graduate ; corper in Yobe state

           

Eucharia Remmy graduated from the University of Nigeria in 2010, and was doing her youth service in Damaturu, Yobe State when she was attacked and murdered by terror group, Boko Haram during the gun and bomb attacks that occured in the state last weekend. 

The Enugu-State born young lady was a member of Christ Embassy in Damaturu, and was sharing Rapsodies of Reality along New Jerusalem Rd when she was hit and killed.

May her soul rest in perfect peace...amen.

Why are they still sending our young people to northern states for NYSC? Why is this still going on?

The death toll in last weekend's attack has risen to 150 and Boko Haram spokesperson say more attacks on the way. Can the govt please evacuate all the Corps members from the state. They can't be wasting precious lives like this.

a tough, underrated heavyweight boxer from Philadelphia and one of the sport's fiercest competitors who spent a lifetime playing second fiddle to his nemesis, Muhammad Ali, died Monday night from liver cancer. He was 67.

Justin Bieber to take paternity test to refute baby allegations

    Justin Bieber has agreed to take a paternity test to further refute allegations he fathered a child with a fan, and a spokesman has confirmed the teen pop star is also investigating legal action of his own.
Bieber will take a DNA test in later November to prove he is not the father of a newborn, sources told the Canadian Press and gossip website TMZ.
A Bieber spokesman also issued a statement to The Canadian Press on Monday saying that the singer's team would pursue all legal avenues.
"It's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims," Matthew Hiltzik said in an emailed statement.
"We'll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions."
    Last week, an American woman named Mariah Yeater filed a paternity lawsuit against the Stratford, Ont.-born singer in San Diego. Her suit calls for child support and a paternity test. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.On Friday during an appearance on NBC's Today, the 17-year-old Bieber denied the allegations that he fathered the child, born in July. He added that he has never met Yeater.
"To set the record straight, none of it is true," the teen chart-topper declared

Dr Conrad Murray Found Guilty In the Death of Michael Jackson

                                              


Michael Jackson's doctor, Dr Conrad Murray, 57, was today found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of the legend. The verdict was reached over ten hours of deliberation time.

Dr Murray will be remanded in custody without bail till sentencing, which is Tuesday November 29th, 2011.

The highly anticipated MTV Europe Music Awards went down on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena and US singer and songwriter Lady Gagaturned out the biggest winner of the night as she walked home with four awards!

Although the the 25-year-old faced stiff competition from the likes of Adele, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez amongst a few other artistes, she still bagged the awards for the ‘Best Female‘, ‘Best Song‘ and ‘Best Video‘ categories, as well as ‘Biggest Fan‘ – a brand new award that celebrates artistes with the most committed fanbase.

Gaga was followed by Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars and Thirty Seconds To Mars who each won two awards. Teen pop star Bieber walked home with Best Male and Best Pop awards, Mars was given the awards for ‘Best Push’ and ‘Best New’ while Thirty Seconds To Mars were honoured in the ‘Best Alternative’ category and ‘Best World Stage’ categories. A Global Icon award was given to Rock legends Queen who later own performed their past hits such as ‘We are the champions‘ and ‘We will rock you‘. 

Spectacular performances (spread across three venues) came from Justin Bieber, David Guetta, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jessie J, LMFAO, Snow Patrol and Queen.  

As announced earlier, the 18th edition of the show was hosted by US actress, singerSelena Gomez who hosted the main show and the digital show simultaneously

Girl, 16, escapes from kidnappers in Abia

                                         


After spending five days with a gang of suspected kidnappers, a 16-year-old-daugher of a lecturer, Miss Precious Esther Ukachukwu, miraculously escaped from her captors in a remote forest in Abia State.

The victim was abducted by a four-man gang at the staff school of the university on Monday, October 24 at 4.30pm but returned five days later with eyes swollen with tears and distress. The victim, who is the eldest daughter of Professor of Animal Nutrition and Forage Sciences at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, S. N Ukachukwu, told Daily Sun that she had gone to pick her younger sister from school when her assailants accosted her and forcefully dragged her into a waiting car at gun point.

Boko Haram: Abuja luxury hotels, next target –US •Resign now, ACN tells security chiefs

                                


The United States (US) warned yesterday that three luxury hotels in Abuja, preferred by foreigners, are the next targets of Boko Haram. Nigeria witnessed a bloody weekend on Friday and early Saturday when the Islamist sect struck at Damaturu and Potiskum in Yobe State as well as Maiduguri, Borno State. 

One hundred people were reported killed in the attack but police admitted only 53. The main opposition party, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), condemned alleged helplessness of the government, calling on the Presidency to sack security chiefs if they refused to resign.
The weekend attacks forced churches in Yobe State to suspend Subday service yesterday. Security was tightened at Eid Praying Grounds in the North as Muslims celebrate Sallah nationwide. 

Expect more deadly attacks – Boko Haram

Islamic sect,  Boko Haram has threatened to carry out more attacks, a day after a series of blasts and gun battles claimed by the group killed more than 100 people in the country’s northeast, the Nigerian Red Cross has said.

Ibrahim Bulama, an official from the humanitarian organisation, said on Sunday that the death toll is expected to rise as local clinics and hospitals tabulate the casualty figures from Friday’s attacks in Damaturu, the capital of rural Yobe state.

70-year-old man, 3 others docked for amputating man

LAGOS-A 70-year- old man and three others have been arraigned before a Surulere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for alleged cutting off the hand and leg of one Tajudeen Ogunbadejo with a machete.

Oladun Mannaseh, 70; Dick Ike, 61; Edike Emeka, 49 and Rafiu Olorunmbe, 35, were charged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and causing grievous body harm.

It was gathered that Ogunbadejo’s hand and leg were cut off after an argument between him and the accused persons.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Idowu Onime, the accused committed the offence on October 19, 2011 at 28, Shobadu, St., Sari-Iganmu, Lagos, adding: “The offences contravened Sections 338 and 516 of the Criminal code, Laws of Lagos State.”

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge and were admitted to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

Man, 30, rapes 96 year-old woman in Kogi

                                   
A 30 year-old-man, Lanre Aremu, has been arrested by the Police in Kogi for allegedly raping a 96-year-old grandmother, Ige Samuel in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area of the state. 

Parading the suspect before newsmen at the state Police Command Headquarters on Friday in Lokoja, Mr Samuel Ojo, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Criminal Investigation, said the act was an abomination, ungodly and inhuman. 

The daughter of the victim told newsmen that the incident happened on Oct. 31, when most of the residents were in Church.

PLANS by a gang of armed robbers to wreak havoc in Maiduguri, Borno State capital by bombing strategic locations during the forthcoming Sallah day has backfired following the arrest of the ringleaders after a robbery operation.

In fact, reports said the police was able to nip this in the bud after the Commissioner of Police in the state, Simeon Midenda, set up a special crack squad with marching directives to carry out discreet investigations and patrol of volatile areas with a view to tackling the menace of members of Boko Haram and activities of other criminals who have been carrying out raids on banks in the state.

Kidnappers abduct priest, demand N10m ransom

                                        
Parish Priest of Onitsha-Enugu Parish, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State, Rev. Father Chijioke Amoke, has been kidnapped.
He was reportedly kidnapped at the gate of the Parish House on Wednesday by a gang of hoodlums, who also shot dead a police officer in their escape bid. The kidnappers have since contacted their victim’s associate demanding N10 million ransom.

Narrating the incident, Rev. Fr. Simon Ukwueze told Sunday Sun that his colleague was abducted while trying to enter his house on the fateful day.
According to him, Amoke was honking his horn at the gate to enter the Parish house when suddenly a black jeep emerged and started shooting indiscriminately into the air.

No fewer than 100 persons died in separate attacks in Potiskum and Damaturu, the Yobe state capital following hours of bombardment by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic sect. Among the victims, according to Sunday Sun findings, were a professor, a lecturer with the Federal Polytechnic Damaturu and a corp member, Eucheria Remigu serving with the Yobe State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Afairs. Eucharia was a psychology graduate. Officials at the Damaturu Specialist Hospital told Sunday Sun that relatives of the victims besieged the hospital morgue yesterday morning to identify their corpses.

House of Rep. Member, Arrested in Abuja by VP Sambo's Security Aides

Tinubu's inlaw and House of Rep. Member, Oyetunde Ojo was yesterday evening arrested in Abuja by vice president Sambo's security aides for obstructing the VP's convoy. Mr Ojo was coming from his Nancy suites when he ran into the VP's convoy. He was detained at the VP's lounge in Aso Villa, yesterday but has since been released.

I guess knowingly or unknowingly obstructing a VP convoy is a security breach. 

Nigerian Nurse's Licence Withdrawn In UK For Calling on Jesus For Help

                                                          
A 51 year old Nigerian-born UK resident nurse, Omolayo Abayomi, has had her Nurse's licence withdrawn by the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council for throwing her hands into the air and begging for Jesus to help, as a baby she was supposed to be taking care of suffered a heart attack.
According to Daily Mail UK, Omolayo Abayomi 'panicked' when the child, who suffered from a chronic lung disease, turned blue and stopped breathing in his cot at home. The nurse called for divine intervention more than 20 times before the vulnerable boy's mother told her to 'shut up'.
The nurse was constantly saying "Jesus help him" and waving her arms around,' a hearing was told.

Female teacher convicted of having sex with five male high school students

                                          
CINCINNATI, Ohio(Reuters) – A female teacher convicted of having sex with five male high school students and sentenced to four years in prison is unlikely to appeal, her attorney said on Friday.

“After speaking with her family, I think it is unlikely,” said Charles M. Rittgers, one of the attorneys who represented Stacy Schuler, a 33-year-old former gym teacher.

The woman was convicted on Thursday of 16 felony counts of sexual battery and three misdemeanor counts of providing alcohol to minors when she was a teacher at Mason High School in a suburb of Cincinnati.
