Two policemen,7 others arrested for robbery and rape.

Two policemen and seven others have been arrested for rape and robbery by policemen attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The policemen are Corporal Adya Chashe, a.k.a. Jubril Abdullahi, attached to Abattoir Divisional Headquarters, Agege and Corporal Isaac Igba attached to Isokoko Division.

According to reports, the policemen and 7 others operated an armed robbery gang and a few days ago, attacked the residence of a lawyer. Not satisfied with robbing them of their valuables, the gang proceeded to rape his wife while the wife’s sister was raped by just one of the robbers.

Incredulously, the robber who raped the wife’s sister said he “liked” her and then took her phone number – calling her 3 days later to declare undying love for her.

Playing along, she agreed to meet him at a specified place but first reported to the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS where she was then escorted by police to the rendezvous point. The robber was arrested

In his confessional statement, he identified other members of the gang, including the two policemen. They were all arrested and are currently being interrogated.

Corporal Adya Chashe,(who was identified as the leader of the group) until his arrest, was on special duty at Stanbic IBTC Bank near Abattoir Police Station for two years and had served two retired DPOs at Abattoir Division as orderly.

Items recovered from him was a pistol and a stolen laptop kept in the DPO’s office.

When the home of Corporal Isaac Igba, attached to Isokoko Division, was searched, an AK47 rifle was recovered from there.

The suspects are still being detained.
