Boko Haram mastermind of Christmas day bombings ‘escapes’ from police custody.

An alleged Boko Haram member who was the mastermind of the Christmas day bombing at St Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madala was caught and detained. Following this arrest, there were reports of the police being “under pressure” from some “top officials” to release him. This led to controversy and confusion as to which agency was really in charge of his case.

The suspect,  who is also known to be an  arms dealer,  was reportedly tracked down by the security forces and investigation had linked him to the sons of the traditional ruler who is said to enjoy political patronage from people in the corridors of power.

Now, the reports are that the man who was arrested and detained has ‘escaped’ from the custody of one of the security agencies.
