Worshipper Arraigned In Court For Attempting To Kill Pastor T.B. Joshua

                                                          
For allegedly attempting to kill Prophet Temitope Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations during a church service, a 29-year old man has been arraigned before the Ebute Meta Magistrates' Court, Lagos, southwest Nigeria. The accused, Francis Ndubuisi, was alleged to have attempted to kill T.B. Joshua with a knife during a service on 22 November, 2011 at the the church's auditorium in Ikotun.
The police alleged in the First Information Report of the incident that the accused was armed with knives and other dangerous weapons when he was arrested. He was arraigned on a four-count charge of attempting to commit felony, assault, unlawful display of arms and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. Mr. Paul Ojogu, the prosecuting police officer, told the court that offences were punishable under Sections 424, 126, 51 and 116 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003. Count two of the charge reads: "That you, Francis Ndubuisi, on 22 November, 2011, at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, at Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully and without lawful justification or excuse distrupted an assembly of religious worship by assaulting Prophet Temitope B. Joshua and thereby committed and offence punishable under Section 126 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003." The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Miss F.M. Kayode, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The magistrate also ordered that the sureties must show to court receipts of payment of tax to the Lagos State government for three years and must present evidence of means of livelihood. She also directed that the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the prosecutor. The case has been adjourned till 9 January, 2012 for trial. The defendant was moved to the Ikoyi Prisons when he could not meet the bail conditions.
