LOWLADEE.com: Can we know your full name waje?

WAJE: Aituaje Ebele Iruobe

LOWLADEE.com: Did you always dream of being a singer?

WAJE: Becoming a singer is a dream I nurtured from childhood. I Started by
joining the choir at a tender age, I did voice overs (back up) for one
of Majek Fashek’s song when I was in junior Secondary school. I also
went to secondary school(word of faith, Benin) on scholarship, So I’m
not completely surprised that I am one now…

LOWLADEE.com: Waje, you gained a lot of hype and publicity for the dual with M.I on One Naira…what does the one naira song mean to you?

WAJE: One naira I believe is an amazing song. Its gotten a lot of reviews
because we (MI and I) delivered it so well. We put all the emotions
necessary for the song to connect to our fans and we are glad we did.
For me, its just another good song, nothing personal.

LOWLADEE.com: Waje, so many ladies of today would rather add six more zeros to the one naira before dating any man, what is your earnest view and advice?

WAJE: I think every young woman out there should be careful before
putting money first when deciding to date a guy you know, as long as
he’s got a vision and a drive to achieve it, then you can settle with
him. Nothing also lasts forever. If the boy get many millions today, you
come go marry am because of money, wetin you go do if all d money go?

LOWLADEE.com: A lot of people said the song was sung by both you and M.I like it was
real, would you say the song ministerd to you in person?

WAJE: when you say real, I really do not know what you mean but before that
song, MI was already referred to as the best rapper in Africa and already had
money, so I don’t see why I would be singing a ONE naira song with someone
that already had millions if we were dating lol, I would be singing let
me chop ur money instead, but honestly, the song got to me too and it is a
constant reminder that money is not the most important part of a
relationship even if it is neccessary.

LOWLADEE.com: Waje, what has been your biggest challenge in life and how were you able
to overcome?

WAJE: hmmmmmmm jamb question! A lot dear, onstantly trying to put yourself
out there is a great challenge, connecting is one too. I’m just basically
being street smart.

LOWLADEE.com: Apart from singing, how else would you like to contribute to your world?

WAJE: Giving back to the society that got me here is always priority for
me. I am part of a breast awareness programme STAND UP TO CANCER NAIJA
organised by a young man Caleb, I use the platform I have to inform and
educate women on the the key to surviving breast cancer plus I
recently created an organization Called “SO INSPIRED” from the single
So Inspired, where I mentor youngsters from age 12-25 in career
 building and positive development.

LOWLDEE.com: What is your biggest achievement so far?

WAJE: Having people call me up and say WAJE you are such an inspiration.

LOWLADEE.com: Right now, you are standing infront of the whole world on that high stage, who would you like to appreciate?

WAJE: I would definitely love to appreciate my mum for all the support
and my family, they’ve been amazing and also a truck load of other
people that I cant possibly mention their names.

LOWLADEE.com: Have we seen the best of Waje?

WAJE: Of course not. I’ve not even dropped my debut album, its impossible
to have seen the best of Waje, wey i go still collect grammy sef lol.

LOWLADEE.com: Say something nice to LOWLADEE.com and her family…

WAJE: I think LOWLADEE is an amazing website and every one out there
needs to get on this website. Mwuah!!!!!!!!!
